Ajeeb Daastaans Movie Review :Too many feelings in around two hours

Netflix’s new anthology, ‘Ajeeb Daastaan’ is a series of four different twisty and engaging stories with complex human relationship, social obstacles, betrayal, love and heartbreak.

An anthology of four films focusing on flawed relationships with a different perspective.Too many feelings in around two hours. An Anthology Consisting 4 Strangely Contrasting Stories Representing the Unexplored Awkward Spaces of our Society

1 - Majnu

Ajeeb Daastaans Movie First Majnu Razz Solved
Jaideep Ahlawat is a star of this one. He single handedly carries this film on his shoulders. Story takes time to develop but the twist in the climax is totally worth it.
Ajeeb Daastaans Movie First Majnu Moral Lesson

“MAJNU” By-Shashank Khaitan is a story of Lipakshi (Fatima Sana Shaikh) and Babloo (Jaideep Ahlawat) who, are stuck in a loveless marriage. Then, the arrival of handsome hunk Raj Kumar (Armaan Ralhan) creates a new feeling for Lipakshi who, soon tries to seduce him and later fall in love with him.
This is the only story that was a little slow, and the narration could have been a little better. The actors did justice to their character but, the bad storyline and the predictable ending make this piece a lame one.

2 - Khilauna

Ajeeb Daastaans Movie Second Khilauna Razz Solved
The entire cast of this story has done a phenomenal job. Be it Abhishek Banerjee, Nushrat Bharucha or the terrific child actress Inayat Verma. This one is more like a thriller and the ending of this one will make your jaw drop.

Ajeeb Daastaans Movie Second Khilauna Moral Lesson

“KHILAUNA” By Raj Mehta is a story of Meenal (Nushrratt Bharucha) who is a domestic help in an upper-middle-class neighbourhood, lives with her little sister Binny (Inayat) and her lover man Shushil (Abhishek Banerjee) who is an ironing man.
“Khilauna” is unexceptionally good as it shows the society living with the class divide and the poor making every possible way to sustain their livelihood. Although the horrific ending made me awe-struck and the twisty ending is just too perfect. Nushrratt shines the whole time and the little Inayat brought fresh light moments along with Abhisekh Banerjee.

3 - Geeli Pucchi

Ajeeb Daastaans Movie Third Geeli Pucchi Razz Solved

Two strong female leads in a single film. Aditi Rao Hydari and Konkona Sen Sharma has simply hit the ball out of the park with their performances. Also, the way this film explores the nuances of class divide with subtlety is brilliant.

Ajeeb Daastaans Movie Third Geeli Pucchi Moral Lesson

“GEELI PUCCHI” By Neeraj Ghaywan is my favourite among the others which beautifully shows the caste system, sexuality, patriarchy and privilege. This is a well-written story of two women- Bharti Mandal (Konkona Sen Sharma) works in a chemical factory and Priya Sharma (Aditi Rao Hydari), married, who joins as the factory data operator. This could be the first time where a versatile actor like Konkona Sharma was completely overshadowed by the performance of Aditi Rao Hydari. The emotions, narrative, chemistry between the two leading actress and the little details were perfect.

4 - Ankahi

Ajeeb Daastaans Movie Fourth Ankahi Razz Solved
This one was so heartbreaking to watch. Shefali Shah and Manav Kaul share no dialogues together. They both talk in sign language and their performances are flawless. Special mention to the final moment both of them share in the climax. Simply heart wrenching.

Ajeeb Daastaans Movie Fourth Ankahi moral Lesson

“ANKAHI” By- Kayoze Irani is about a mother Natasha (Shefali Shah) who is trying her best to support her deaf daughter and struggling with her stubborn husband. But later she meets Kabir (Manav Kaul) who is also deaf and starts developing a wonderful friendship.
Shefali Shah and Manav Kaul’s scenes where they are talking in the sign language are just treating to eyes. Their expression through their eyes and emotions connects to you and you feel loved for both the character.
The overall verdict for this anthology will be a definite thumbs up. A must watch if you want to encounter some emotions and for some amazing performances.

Second and fourth were my personal favorites.
